Synthesis and antibacterial activity of the antibiotic eremomycin esters

Abstract: Methyl, benzyl and diphenylmethyl esters of the glycopeptide antibiotic eremomycin were obtained by its treatment with corresponding diazoalkanes. The esters have high antibacterial activity but are less active than the parent antibiotic.
